Search Mason County Court Docket

A Mason County court docket search can lead to more than one Washington court and record system. The right path depends on the case type, where it began, and whether the goal is a hearing date, an event list, or a filed document. Search the Mason County court docket through state and local access channels, then confirm key facts with the court that keeps the official record. Court calendars can change, public indexes may lag, and a visible docket entry does not always include the document behind it.

Mason Portals Serve Different Courts

Washington keeps no single database for every Mason County court record. Odyssey serves Superior Court case information, while State Case Search handles index discovery across court levels. Find My Court Date tracks upcoming settings in participating district and municipal courts. re:SearchWA adds the limited-jurisdiction layer, and JIS-Link is paid and display-only.

Court Dockets: What They Show

A Mason County court docket is a chronological list of events. It may show when a petition was filed, service occurred, motions were entered, hearings were set, and a disposition was recorded. It is not the full case file.

Case numberThe court-assigned identifier; retain the court name.
Case typeCriminal, civil, domestic, probate, infraction, or small claim.
Filing dateWhen the case opened, not the date of each event.
PartyA listed plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent.
EventA filing, setting, motion, order, or judgment.
DispositionThe recorded result, best checked against the order.

A charge is an allegation. An arraignment is not a conviction, and a scheduled trial does not prove a trial occurred. An entered order also differs from a proposed order.

Mason Courthouses Are Not One Place

Mason County's courts sit at more than one address. The official Mason County court directory lists Superior Court and its Clerk at 419 N 4th Street, District Court at 414 W Franklin Street, Juvenile Court at 426 W Cedar Street, and Shelton Municipal Court inside the Civic Center at 525 W Cota Street. That directory page shows the locations and contacts used for Mason County docket questions.

The split matters when you visit in person. The District records page also lists 419 N 4th for record requests, so confirm the destination before traveling to a courthouse counter.

Mason County Courts and Dockets

Jurisdiction decides where a Mason County docket lives. Superior Court handles felonies, major civil matters, real-property disputes, family and probate cases, guardianships, dependencies, juvenile matters, and limited-court appeals. District Court takes misdemeanors, criminal traffic, infractions, small claims, and limited civil disputes. Shelton Municipal handles city offenses.

Mason District Docket Scope

Mason District Court holds countywide limited jurisdiction. Its civil authority covers money-damage claims up to $100,000, though its published page excludes title to or possession of real property. Small claims reach $5,000. On the criminal side, the court hears misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, criminal traffic, and probable-cause events tied to felonies. The county's District page shows its jurisdiction and access routes.

A District entry tied to a felony may not be the final court file. Check for a later Mason Superior number before assuming the case is done.

Court Dates and Settings in Mason County

For Mason District and Shelton Municipal settings, use Find My Court Date. Superior files are different. For criminal, civil, domestic, juvenile, and ex parte files, use the county's Superior calendar page. Then call the clerk. A calendar states what is planned, not whether it happened.

Mason Superior ordinarily lists criminal dockets on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Civil calendars follow separate timing and confirmation rules. The old alphabetical criminal scheduling practice no longer applies. For detailed reset and missed-date steps, see the Mason County Court Schedule.

Mason Docket Terms in Plain Words

Short docket labels carry narrow meanings. Check the entry and the underlying document before drawing any conclusion, and remember that Mason County clerks can identify the record tied to an unclear event label.

Setting
A planned court event that may later move.
Motion
A request for a ruling, not proof it was granted.
Order
A signed judicial direction.
Disposition
The recorded result, such as dismissal, conviction, settlement, or judgment.
Certified copy
A clerk-authenticated copy, unlike a portal printout.

The calendar lists planned events. The docket records case history and later results.

Docket Access Under Washington Law

Washington General Rule 31 controls who may view court records in Mason County and statewide, covering dockets, calendars, indexes, orders, and judgments alike. Some records sit behind added protections. A missing docket image may just mean the portal blocks it, or that the record must be ordered from the clerk.

Key rules:

GR 31 sets the main access framework.

GR 15 governs sealing and redaction.

GR 22 protects specified family and juvenile data.

ARLJ 9 addresses limited-court records.

The Washington Public Records Act covers administrative records in the proper setting. Mason Superior says case records follow court rules and Clerk procedures instead.

Mason Dockets Can Hide Documents

Anonymous Odyssey access can show public case information without the filed documents. Registration and Clerk authorization may expand access only when rules allow. Sealed cases, redacted files, juvenile and adoption records, protected family data, and protection-order safety facts can all remain unavailable.

A public Mason County docket entry is not a promise of a public PDF. Ask the record-holding clerk about the document.

Never work around portal controls. Access can depend on role and an order. No role makes every restricted item open. A sealed case may be absent from a public name search. A redacted filing may stay listed with sensitive pages or fields withheld. A generic event can also appear without the paper that explains it. Each condition means something different. So portal silence alone should never drive a guess about why access is limited.

For a restricted Mason County court record, keep only the essentials. Retain the public access label, the court, the date, and the rule or order reference the clerk provides. Juvenile records at the separate Mason Juvenile Court location are not ordinary adult dockets. Protection-order files may contain protected addresses, contact details, and information about children. Public access never makes it sound practice to republish such data.

How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records

The Mason County Superior Court Clerk maintains Superior filings and supplies copies, certifications, older-file research, and approved document access. Current cases run 1996 to present. Ordinary pages cost $0.50, certification is $5 for the first page plus $1 for each added page, and USPS delivery adds $3. Email delivery takes about 72 hours. The county gateway shows its court and Clerk navigation.

General-jurisdiction trials belong to Mason Superior Court. Criminal proceedings usually happen in person. Jail or Department of Corrections video and approved remote participation are the exceptions. Civil, domestic, probate, and guardianship matters may be in person or virtual. That holds unless the court directs otherwise. The court's own page shows current jurisdiction and hearing modes.

A calendar note about video does not turn a meeting link into a standing public viewing link. Whatever the court's current instructions say controls.

Mason Court Technology Changed in 2026

Mason District Court joined the Courts of Limited Jurisdiction Case Management System on June 1, 2026. The switch brought eFileWA, centralized records, better public access, and online defendant access. It was not smooth. Fewer hearings were scheduled and the system saw downtime during the brief transition. Those dates explain past gaps in a Mason County court docket, not current policy.

The change runs deeper than the screen. A filed item can carry a historical entry in one layer and a newer display in another. Payment or filing interruptions announced for the May and June transition were temporary. They are not the court's present hours, payment methods, or normal filing practice. Write down both search dates. Then ask Mason District Court which entry controls.

Paper and electronic coverage differ. The state filing-year selector reaches 1975. That reach does not prove every older Mason record is digitized, so ask the court about an old or migrated case. The same point covers a result found in Washington Case Search but not re:SearchWA. One may be an index. The other is the newer document-access layer. Neither substitutes for a certified Mason County record.

Note: save the portal, search date, court, case number, and whether each result was an index, document, or certified copy.

Mason Specialty Court Dockets

Mason lists four specialty programs: Drug Court, Family Recovery Court, Mental Health Court, and Veteran's Court. Each works with an underlying case. Treatment and counseling facts may stay protected even when the case is indexed. Read exact event labels and skip guesses about health. A public docket may name a program review while keeping clinical reports, assessments, and counseling records out of anonymous reach.

A review or compliance setting usually tracks progress under an order. It is not necessarily a new charge. It is not a final result, either. The underlying Mason case number is the sound route. It reaches the public record. Separate the main criminal, dependency, or family case from the program calendar, and ask the Clerk which public order records the legal outcome. That keeps the docket trail tied to an official court act.

The Mason County therapeutic courts page names the programs. It is the right source for current program contacts, while the court docket stays the source for public case events.

City-by-City Court Dockets in Mason County

Shelton is the county seat and Mason County's only incorporated city. Its Municipal Court hears infractions plus misdemeanor and gross-misdemeanor offenses inside city limits. It is not a countywide District Court. A mailing address alone never grants it jurisdiction. Communities outside the city stay under that rule. Matters there usually route by offense, claim type, and venue to District or Superior Court.

The court sits in the Civic Center at 525 W Cota Street. Its posted hours ran through September 4, 2026, so confirm before you go. Language access is free through the Clerk. The municipal page also offers local forms and a payment entry point. Check a city ticket with Shelton Municipal Court. Check a county citation with Mason District Court.

Shelton's status as the only incorporated city explains why this Mason County city directory holds one entry instead of five. The 2024 Office of Financial Management estimate puts Shelton at 10,350 residents. That figure measures population. It is not a measure of docket volume. Court caseload reports count filed matters, proceedings, or disposed charges under their own definitions.
